What We Do

Public Outreach

AABT offers free educational performances and lecture demonstrations to over three thousand public school children yearly. A matinee is scheduled for 1400 public school children from throughout San Antonio at our Spring and Winter Performances. We bring ballet to public schools, targeting under-served and low-income communities in particular, with a lecture demonstration several times each season.

Public Performances

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre presented it's first major public performance in December of 2006. Pieces presented consisted of all original choreography to classical as well as contemporary music. This performance was in collaboration with Ms. Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio from Cactus Pear Music Festival. It is Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre's intent to collaborate with music professionals and other groups for many of it's performances. It is also our goal to make sure that everyone in San Antonio is able to attend these performances. Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre is working closely with the City of San Antonio to ensure that all social service organizations are aware of our willingness to provide underserved children and adults the opportunity to experience our performances.

Public Lecture Demonstrations

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre will be presenting lecture demonstrations to many public and private schools in the San Antonio area. All of these events will be presented at no charge and will be presented on the school campuses. The dancers will demonstrate all elements of ballet including the technique and training. This is also a great opportunity for the children to meet the dancers. If you know of a school that would like to have us present a lecture demonstration please contact us at (210) 344-9428 or send an email to
info@alamoartsballet.org.

Master Classes and Workshops

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre will continually bring in guest teachers from around the nation to offer master classes and workshops to AABT students as well as non-AABT students in this area.

Our Teaching

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre is currently holding all classes at Ballet Arts School in San Antonio. The curriculum is designed in consultation with Development Director, Lauren Anderson. The school faculty includes Julie Morton-Simpson, artistic director, Judith Gani, executive director, and special classes taught by Lauren Anderson and other guest instructors.

Join In The Excitement

The school's mission is to provide professional dance training that is developmentally and physically appropriate for all age students. Since its inception, the school's students have been accepted into various nationally competitive summer programs as well as professional companies.

The company's school provides training for aspiring ballet dancers, offering opportunities to explore both classical and contemporary styles and exposing students to nationally recognized guest instructors and artists through master classes, workshops, and performances. Our goal is to provide the highest quality training with an emphasis on technique and artistry to our students.

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre will continually bring in guest teachers from around the nation to offer master classes and workshops to all students in the area. Just recently we offered a Ballet Master Class with Michele Gifford. Ms. Gifford, former principal dancer for New York City Ballet and Texas Ballet Theatre, taught a class for many Intermediate / Advanced level students. Ms Gifford will be returning regularly to conduct special Master Classes throughout the year.
